So, now what?
Okay....Picture this. I have been interviewed 3 times for this job that I'm trying to get. I went on my final interview last Thursday - meeting and chatting with the Vice President of the office of University of Advancement. He was really the seal a deal guy. Then, I met with Keith. He's the director of Major Gifts. He told me that he was going to move forward and contact HR. He contacted my Supervisor, and everything went perfect. I was VERY excited. Friday... no word from HR. I was staring at the phone all day. Praying they would call so I would have yet another reason to celebrate over the weekend. They never called......
Today. No word. I was a little surprised because Keith was really on the ball with the whole process. It just didn't feel right. I started to worry that maybe they had second thoughts..
4:50 p.m. My Mom called me (She works in the same building as Keith). She told me that there was something to tell me. Keith is leaving. WHAT? No way. Yep. Keith apparently was offered a huge job at Rutgers University. That's terrific for him. I was shocked though.... because all I could think was... what about all this interviewing, and this huge opportunity???? I went back to my Boss and told her. She too, was shocked. She couldn't even think of what to say. See, he had just spoken to her. He explained the whole job to her, as to what I would be doing. In great detail. She was actually really excited for me......
And now, I sit here and have no idea what to expect. I am totally thrown for a loop. Are they still going to move forward and hire me? I mean, they are going to have to replace Keith. But, will the new person want me to work for them? Am I going to have to go through the entire process again? I have no clue. What a mess. And funny...all I could think when this happened was..... This is the story of my life. It's weird how things seem to work out sometime. But, I can't jump to any conclusions. I simply have to sit pretty and wait. It's just that now, I have no idea what to expect.
SO, there you have it.....
Soooooooo.......Here we go....
The weekend (bear with me, this has been a hell of a day).
What a great weekend I had!! Hubby and I ran off to the nicest area in Pa. We went up to the Susquehanna River Trail for a sweet get-away. And what a time we had!!! We started our Journey by arriving in this sweet town, and stopping at one of the most adorable places to eat lunch. It's a Drive-In food place from about the 50's. We're not talking "Sonic" - it's the real deal. OLD, and cute!!! The place is called "The Red Rabbit". You drive up, and suddenly you get the feeling as though you've gone way back in time! Before my time.....They come up to the car with a menu, and when you're ready to order, you turn the headlights on. Once they took our order, we waited for the food to come, and admired the sites of this cool, old "Hot Spot". The food arrives, and they hook it to the window. What a fun time! Oh, and the food is good too!! When we were finished, we turn the headlights on and they come and take the tray away! So cute!!! nice time. Totally out of the ordinary!
Then we went on to our Motel. It's right across the street from the River. The motel is probably at least as old as the Drive-in, and is frequented mostly by fisherman. The place at first glance is a bit creepy looking, but the inside was clean, and ...well, clean! No fancy place, but very fun! It's nice to keep it simple once in awhile. Ya know? And that's what we were doing. So, we unpacked our things and took a ride. It's beautiful up there. Mountains, The river.... just gorgeous. It's so different. Although I wouldn't want to live up there, it's nice to escape to a more relaxing place. There's something to be said about feeling closer to "nature". Fun.
We got back to the motel later in the afternoon and took a nap. Seriously. We took a nap. Not to often do we find ourselves in a position to do that at home. We're always on the run. Doing this, doing that.... housework, shopping, etc.... Up there, it's restful, and allows us to do peaceful stuff.
Saturday night we actually got all dressed up and headed out to dinner and dancing. Well, I stuck out like a sore thumb! As did hubby. I had a dress and high heels on, and Fred was in dress pants and a gorgeous shirt. We turned a few fisherman's heads (lol)......
Going out was fun. We actually stayed out until about 1:00 a.m. It was really fun. We even made new friends who ended up joining us for dinner and drinks. It was cool. And I danced a little. I was about the only one who was up for dancing, but it was good. I danced with some others that were out there on the dance floor! It was a good night. A really fun, and different night!
Sunday morning we went to Harrisburg. We saw a sign for a new place called "Hollywood". It was a gorgeous casino out in the middle of nowhere! It was huge, and the inside was more beautiful than any casino we've ever gone to. We had fun. Played the slots a little, had a nice lunch, and hit the road to home. We got back just in time to pick the kids up. It really was the perfect weekend!!!!
Something happened today at 10 minutes til 5:00 p.m at work. I'm going to blog about that separately.........It wasn't fun... it plain ole sucked......
